Pharoah Sanders

Live in Paris (1975)

via Tokyo Buy Buy Diary View post →

Another precious excavation from France's Transversales Disques: an unreleased set recorded at Paris's Maison de la Radio / Studio 104 on November 17, 1975. Sanders leads a quartet of Danny Mixon (piano/organ), Calvin Hill (double bass) and Greg Bandy (drums) at the height of his powers, right at the tail end of his classic Impulse! period. The music travels from deep, expansive spiritual jazz into ferocious free-jazz eruption, taking in "The Creator Has a Master Plan," "Love Is Everywhere" and Coltrane's "I Want to Talk About You." These long-buried ORTF tapes get their first official release, cut from the original masters in a gatefold tip-on sleeve.

Modern Classical / Ambient / Neo-Classical 2016

Jóhann Jóhannsson

Orphée

Jóhann Jóhannsson's first album for Deutsche Grammophon returns on vinyl. Finely structured pieces unfold in rich layers — a precise fusion of classical writing and modern production, with Hildur Guðnadóttir among an exceptional cast of players, ensembles and choir. Jóhannsson himself moves between piano, electronics, pipe organ and electric organ. Issued here on crystal clear vinyl.

Teddy Swims — Ugly
Soul / Pop / R&B 2027

Teddy Swims

Ugly

Eighteen months of transformation after I've Tried Everything But Therapy, featuring the singles "Mr. Know It All" and "Perfect Man." The record is about shedding old patterns and interrogating deep-set beliefs — rethinking who we're supposed to be, taking responsibility while still being kind to yourself, and dropping whatever's holding you back.

Meaningful Stone — To: Hana
Dream Pop / Shoegaze / Indie Folk 2026

Meaningful Stone

To: Hana

A new EP from one of the most closely watched names in Korea's indie scene. Where 2024's Angel Interview drowned everything in roaring shoegaze-dream-pop guitar, To: Hana turns toward something clearer and more delicate — from the faintly melancholy summer of "Summer, Summer, Summer" to "1+1=0," produced by West Coast SSW Jay Som. The weightless, drifting vocals even recall Faye Wong's ethereal turn in Mermaid Got Married. Released on vinyl and CD by Japan's P-VINE.

OST Arcane Season 1

A restock of the League of Legends: Arcane season one soundtrack, long sold out and out of print everywhere overseas. Imagine Dragons, JID, Woodkid, Denzel Curry, Jazmine Sullivan, Pusha T and Sting all turn up — Curtis Harding's soul sitting a few tracks away from the PVRIS/MIYAVI collision, the show's steampunk tension pressed into a single LP.

Space Ghost — Back From Reality
Ambient / Downtempo / Deep House 2026

Space Ghost

Back From Reality

A small quiet place to stand in an increasingly suffocating world. Four years on from his last record, the long-serving Oakland electronic producer drifts between ambient, downtempo and deep house, drawing on late-'90s and early-2000s environmental electronics shot through with the nostalgia of PS2-era game scores. The cover is a shot he took of the empty Oakland port on a late-night drive — and the story goes he tested the finished songs by circling the whole city in his car until the notes could hold the exhaustion and emptiness of very late at night.

Sade — Lovers Rock
Soul / R&B / Lovers Rock 2000

Sade

Lovers Rock

Sade's fifth album, arriving after eight years of silence, took the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album and went triple platinum in the States. "By Your Side" and "King of Sorrow" fold that unmistakable low voice into spare acoustic instrumentation and the unhurried sway of lovers rock and reggae. Where the early records were all metropolitan luxury, this one is inward and still — and wears repeat listening beautifully. Pressed once only on 140g clear vinyl for National Album Day 2026.

Bob Dylan — Desire
Folk Rock / Americana 1976

Bob Dylan

Desire

Some of the most narratively charged songs Dylan ever wrote sit on this record. "Hurricane," the indictment epic written for wrongly convicted boxer Rubin Carter, shares a sleeve with "Sara," a private confession to his wife — public fury and intimate penitence in the same 40 minutes. Scarlet Rivera's violin threads through it all and stains the whole thing a deep gypsy-wanderer color. Reissued for its 50th anniversary on cypress green marbled vinyl for National Album Day 2026, pressed once only.

Pink Floyd — Meddle
Progressive Rock / Psychedelic Rock 1971

Pink Floyd

Meddle

The pivot that made Dark Side of the Moon possible. The 23-minute "Echoes" is widely held to be the band's most important early experiment, and it more or less announces the decade they were about to have. "San Tropez" is the odd one out — written alone by Roger Waters and carried straight into the studio rather than assembled collectively, its loose jazz-rock ease sitting in pleasant contrast to everything around it. Out on San Tropez orange marbled vinyl for National Album Day 2026.

Nina Simone — It Is Finished
Soul / Jazz / Gospel 1974

Nina Simone

It Is Finished

The title carries a real finality to it. This was Simone's last studio album under her RCA contract and, in a sense, the closing of that whole chapter of her life. Issued on sun-hat yellow vinyl for National Album Day 2026, pressed once only.

Michael Jackson — Invincible
Pop / R&B 2001

Michael Jackson

Invincible

Jackson's final studio album, and the last thing he made before the break with Sony. Caught between rights disputes and a promotional campaign that never properly materialized, it underperformed commercially while hiding some of the most underrated writing of his late period. Listeners have been digging it back out in recent years and the reputation has slowly climbed. Out as a 2LP on lime marbled vinyl for National Album Day 2026.

4DPFs — stuff
Jazz Funk / Jam Rock / Club 2026

4DPFs

stuff

A strangely configured jazz-funk trio — guitar, trumpet, saxophone, nothing else — that somehow conjures big-band-scale groove while moving through jazz, funk, Latin and rock. They've been tearing up the live clubs of Shibuya and Shimokitazawa for a while now. Their debut gets its first-ever vinyl pressing worldwide, not just remastered but expanded with new tracks and remixes beyond the CD edition, with Takeshi Nakatsuka, AFRA, masterpata, MACKA-CHIN and ROOT SOUL each taking a turn at the desk. Strictly limited pressing.

John Coltrane — A Love Supreme
Spiritual Jazz / Modal Jazz 1965

John Coltrane

A Love Supreme

The most spiritually weighted record in the jazz canon, by common consent. Coltrane's saxophone, McCoy Tyner's piano, Jimmy Garrison's bass and Elvin Jones's drums move through four movements in a single unbroken breath, and sixty years on it still lands like a body blow. This 180g pressing was remastered by Kevin Reeves from the original analog tapes at 24bit/192kHz. Whether or not you listen to jazz, A Love Supreme long ago stopped being just music and became an article of faith.
