Light and Shadows
Casiopea's 1997 album brought legendary drummer Akira Jimbo back alongside Issei Noro, Yoshihiro Naruse and Minoru Mukaiya, with American drummer Harvey Mason on several tracks. Highlights include fan favourite "GOLDEN WAVES" and Mason's own "THE TEASE". Now on clear coloured 2LP for the first time, cut by mastering engineer Toru Kotetsu.
MATERIAL
Casiopea's 20th-anniversary album, with Akira Jimbo drumming throughout and a lush horn section featuring Futoshi Kobayashi and Takahiro Kaneko. It includes live staples "FREAK JACK" and "THE NIGHT IN BLUE", plus "TWINKLE VISIONS", the closing theme of NHK's Sunday Sports. First-ever clear coloured 2LP pressing, cut by Toru Kotetsu.
One Tuesday In New York
Recorded in New York on February 22, 1977, Japanese bassist Takashi Mizuhashi leads a session with Herbie Hancock, bassist Teruo Nakamura and drummer Bruno Carr. Mizuhashi's thick, elastic bass lines play off Hancock's swinging piano, and the set includes "Cantaloupe Island". The last import sold out instantly, and a vinyl repress is now confirmed.
The Teardrop Throbs
Six years after American Head, The Flaming Lips finally return with a new studio album. Forty years in, the band keeps championing younger artists while their own music grows deeper with age. Available on black and blue vinyl.
Chapman's Pool
Multi-instrumentalist Skinshape builds on electric guitar, bass, piano, synths, drum machines and plenty of percussion, then adds three-part harmonies, strings and brass. The result channels the soul and psychedelia of 1960s film scores with his usual calm warmth.
The Documentary III
The Game continues the Documentary series with sharp storytelling and a stacked guest list: Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye West, Leon Thomas, Tyga, YG, E-40, Larry June, Black Thought and Marsha Ambrosius. Production comes from Cool & Dre, Mike & Keys, London on da Track, Statik Selektah and Conductor Williams.
Gathers all nine tracks from Kanae Izutsu's Beyond The Window (2024) and Another Answer (2021), a mix of covers and originals including the Japan Pro Music Recording Award winners "Sing Sing Sing" and "Takeda no Komoriuta". Cut by Katsutoshi Kitamura and pressed by Memory-Tech on super-clear heavyweight vinyl to capture her translucent voice and the room around the instruments. Limited to 200 copies.
