Legendary LA band Spain were slowcore pioneers ahead of their time — their smoke-filled, glacially slow, nocturnal aesthetic produced a song later covered by Johnny Cash. Original copies of their 1995 debut The Blue Moods of Spain have long fetched huge sums secondhand; Rhino now presents an official 30th-anniversary deluxe edition on translucent blue double vinyl.
New Age/Ambient pioneer Laraaji, known for collaborations with Brian Eno and Haruomi Hosono, returns with the fully improvised Openness, recorded in Brooklyn in 2025 with no pre-written material — every sound emerges from in-the-moment listening and trust in the unknown. His signature "Laughter Meditation" runs through the record, laughter itself becoming an instrument amid Fender Rhodes, Moog, zither, gong and piano.
