Marquee Moon

A prophetic masterpiece that anticipated punk's future before the movement even erupted — Marquee Moon arrived a full nine months before the Sex Pistols' Never Mind The Bollocks. The 1977 debut from NYC legends Television pairs Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd's sharp, poetic twin-guitar counterpoint; the ten-minute title track builds a cool, cavernous urban tension. Official Rhino Elektra 140g clear vinyl, limited.

On Espirits De Sel he folds in the Moroccan sintir (the three-stringed Gnawa lute) and a baroque-tinged harpsichord — free jazz that roams freely yet carries a meditative spirit.

Gigi Masin

Clouds

Fans of Nujabes will recognize it instantly — Italian ambient producer Gigi Masin's 'Clouds' was sampled on Nujabes' 'Latitude' and surfaced in works by Björk and Dhidatsuma. The original is hushed and lovely, piano drifting over a misty synth haze. This limited P-VINE 7" presses 45rpm and 33rpm on its two sides for close comparison.
