Bassist-vocalist Kurena Ishikawa of soraya delivers her first full album — and first as self-producer — three years after her 2023 mini-album Kurena. All eight tracks are sung by her, mixing originals with covers of Roy Ayers' 'Searching' and Minnie Riperton's 'Les Fleurs.' Backed by a stellar band including Takeshi Obayashi, Taka Nawashiro and Gene Jackson, it's a headline release for this year's Record Day Japan.
Nagoya five-piece Trooper Salute — dubbed 'the Souta-era Sotaisei Riron' — call their music Symphonic Indie Rock, built around Musashi's near-limp vocals and folding in kayokyoku, Alternative, Jazz and Prog. Chief writer Sohto Komiya splices favorite fragments into Chimera-like compositions; the eight-minute title track 'Tomodachi ga Imashita' is a standout. Picked for Enon Kawatani's EIGHT-JAM 'My Best 10,' now on vinyl for the first time.
