cry jar

Thai singer pami, a fast-rising name across Asia's indie scene, finally presses her beloved "cry jar" to a 7-inch. A sweet, alluring voice rides a light pop melody while singing a slightly barbed view of love — "since you made me cry, you'd better take responsibility for my tears." Heartbreak turned into playful black humor, cute with a hint of poison. A limited Kissing Fish Records edition; the B-side holds a pure a cappella take.

Areski Et Brigitte Fontaine — Je Ne Connais Pas Cet Homme
Avant-Chanson / Experimental Folk 1973

Areski Et Brigitte Fontaine

Je Ne Connais Pas Cet Homme

A 1973 masterwork from French avant-chanson legends Areski and Brigitte Fontaine. Rooted in North African and European folk, its minimal setting of classical guitar, strings and woodwinds cradles a breeze-soft voice and vividly poetic miniatures. Their playful, sardonic exchanges weave an incomparable intimacy — a whispered invitation into a strange, beautiful private world. Reissued by Superior Viaduct.
