Modern Pop from Mauritania (1984-1989)
TR-808 rhythms cut into desert melody as Saharan pop melts into reggae, dub, new wave and funk. These recordings by the important Mauritanian musical family Yassine Nana first appeared only on cassette, circulating locally for decades — now reissued on vinyl by Sofa Records and Les Disques Bongo Joe.
