The second album by German jazz-rock quintet FROM, from 1972 — tightly wound playing captured in remarkably full, dimensional sound. The 17-minute opener “Festival Rock / Use The Bridge” is the highlight, Hammond organ, electric piano, sax and drums interlocking like Miles Davis’s In A Silent Way meeting Soft Machine, a quiet menace simmering underneath. A 1971 Japanese “mood music” cult favourite — the sole record left by actress Kikko Matsuoka, host of the late-night TV show 11PM. Arranged by Shinichi Tanabe (famed for the Kindaichi Kosuke soundtracks), it reworks the pop tunes of the day into sultry instrumentals, with Matsuoka’s breathy spoken interludes woven between. Sold out after its 2021 RSD Japan vinyl, now reissued on pink colour vinyl.
