戦争と少女
Japanese rapper ZORN built this track on a sample of Nujabes's signature work 'reflection eternal.' Its title comes from ZORN's encounter with a woman orphaned by war, who told him gently: 'You can't imagine it, can you? Without living it, it's hard to truly reach that memory.' Born from the NHK special PASS THE MIC, it looks back on 80 postwar years of Japan as conflict still rages in Ukraine and Gaza. The 7-inch is back in supply after being restricted for export.
楓 -kaede- / だいすき
Sweet-voiced Japanese singer-songwriter emily hashimoto, steeped in Shibuya-kei, takes on a cover of Yasuyuki Okamura's signature song 'Daisuki,' recasting its heart-quickening infatuation in a fresh, charming light. The flip side, the original '楓 -kaede-,' traces the shifting heart of parting from and setting off after someone dear. Cover art by illustrator Yuki Takahashi — one for every lover of Shibuya-kei and city pop.
A*Pop

Kaiso Power: Sound Revolution In Trinidad 1970-1980
Another stunner from the Soundway label. This compilation gathers rare jazz grooves, calypso and percussion from the politically turbulent Republic of Trinidad and Tobago — the southeastern Caribbean nation hugging the Venezuelan coast — collecting classics from the revolutionary 1970s generation that voiced radical new politics while reaching back toward an ancient spiritual consciousness through music.
Moenie and Kitchi
Produced by Adam Pierce (of Mice Parade), this blends acoustic arrangements with delicate shoegaze and dream-pop textures, woven through with a singular voice into a dreamlike world. The debut album from New York singer-songwriter Gregory and the Hawk, originally released in 2008 and quick to sell out, now reissued on clear vinyl.
A phantom dub work from Bim Sherman — one of reggae's most spiritual and forward-looking figures — recorded in Jamaica in 1988, mixed by masters including Adrian Sherwood, King Tubby and Prince Jammy, with a lineup boasting Sly & Robbie and The Roots Radics. Cavernous, reverb-drenched drums swirl through space; on 'Station Dub,' bells, intercom chatter and strange effects weave through a sound at once spiritual and hallucinatory. Issued in tiny quantities back then, it has long commanded high second-hand prices.
