Endtroducing.....
Built entirely from sampled fragments of old records, Endtroducing..... breathes new life into sleeping sounds — a crackle-laden warmth that digital can never match. The crate-digging cover is as iconic as the music. This is the heaviest edition: a 25th-anniversary 2XLP cut at Abbey Road Studios with half-speed mastering.
At Us
Released in late 2024 by US ambient label Mystery Circles, this solo work by Keigo Tatsumi began as music for photographer Tomohiro Takeshita's exhibition, yet stands complete on its own. Field recordings of solitary travel thread the album together, folding in the artist's attention to environment, sound and people — featherlight experiments that catch the everyday's flickering moments of light. Now pressed to vinyl for the first time, recommended for lovers of ambient and field recording. Tatsumi is also the bassist of Never Young Beach.
Brian Jones Presents The Pipes Of Pan At Joujouka
A landmark case in the commercialization of ethnic music. Rolling Stones member Brian Jones recorded it in Morocco's Joujouka village in the late 1960s, layering his own psychedelic processing over the field recordings; Jones's death in 1969 cast a tragic, mythologizing filter over these final sounds. Joujouka's millennia-old ancestral music is Sufi devotional sound, suddenly thrust onto the world stage by this 'sourcing' — and the subject of decades of debate between traditionalist and fusion factions.
Carolina, Carol Bela
DJ KOCO aka SHIMOKITA's first new release in about a year and a half reworks the Jorge Ben and Toquinho classic 'Carolina, Carol Bela' (1970) with Q.A.S.B. joining in. The original's mellow Brazilian warmth is rebuilt into a DJ-ready Brazilian funk groove, vivid and full of dancefloor energy. Not to be missed by DJs and rare-groove lovers alike. 7-inch vinyl, out 9/9.
The Soul At Large Sessions
A super-rare 1969 reggae instrumental album from Lloyd Charmers' The Hippy Boys, renowned for defining the 'skinhead reggae' style and beloved by reggae and soul/rare-groove fans alike. The lineup includes the Barrett brothers, Aston and Carlton, later central to Lee Perry and The Upsetters — taut, vital playing throughout. This Aggrobeat Records reissue features new cover art, fresh liner notes and a vinyl remaster.
G.T.
A 7-inch color-vinyl reissue of Ryuichi Sakamoto's single 'G.T.', pairing two contrasting pieces. The A-side 'G.T.' is a buoyant electro-funk dance tune, originally an advance single from the 1986 album Futurista with vocals by Bernard Fowler; the B-side 'Parolibre' is a sacred, Chopin-prelude-like piano piece. A limited release.
海闊天空
An album preserving Wong Ka Kui's original vocals and songwriting, fulfilling his planned release and honoring the never-bowing BEYOND. This limited picture-disc edition comes with a Japanese-typeface obi strip, 180g at 33⅓ rpm, pressed in Germany with a gatefold sleeve. It collects classics including 'Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies' (Cantonese), 'Baba Mama' and 'Peace and Love'. Out 11/27.
This Is The Day (Full Band Version)
Mama's Gun's 'This Is The Day (Full Band Version)' presents the song's complete band arrangement on a compact 7-inch. The record showcases finely crafted song structure, warm vocals and classic soul aesthetics, deftly fusing modern pop and R&B. The full version foregrounds flowing arrangement — horns and piano over a thick drum foundation — nodding to 70s soul while folding in 90s hip hop, a model of the band's contemporary soul.
An undervalued revolutionary voice. In early-1970s Guinea-Bissau, amid war and division, José Carlos Schwarz and his band Cobiana Djazz revived traditional forms like Gumbé and sang in Guinean Kriol, turning music into a force for identity. Beneath the warm melodies runs fierce political consciousness, the lyrics confronting colonialism and oppression. Schwarz was imprisoned and tortured for guerrilla activity and died at 27 in a 1977 plane crash at Havana airport. This official vinyl reissue, remastered with close family involvement, gathers recordings long circulated only among locals and the diaspora.
