The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty
The much-loved Secret Life of Walter Mitty soundtrack returns on Music On Vinyl's 180g turquoise-marble pressing. Ben Stiller's adaptation of the 1939 Thurber short pairs composer Theodore Shapiro with Swedish folk master José González, and this edition arrives in linen-laminate packaging with a lyric insert — limited to 1,000 hand-numbered copies.
one dream, one star
Japanese dream-pop legends sugar plant return with a 30th-anniversary statement. Chinatsu Shoyama's velvet vocals drift through minimal, hazy melodies that pacify whether you're settling into the small hours or riding the morning train. KiliKiliVilla's tiny pressings vanish on sight in Japan — only a handful made it out.
THE BOOK 4
YOASOBI's THE BOOK series returns with its fourth installment, available in Art Edition and Overwatch Edition pressings. Arriving in July — pre-orders are fulfilled in order if stock runs short, so be specific about which edition you want.
Metaphorical Music
Nujabes's debut Metaphorical Music returns to vinyl as a double LP. The pioneering Japanese producer's blueprint for the jazz/hip-hop fusion that would shape a generation, with 'Lady Brown' and 'F.I.L.O.' instantly transporting you to the late-night listening hours you remember. If past restocks slipped past, don't sleep on this one.
Sub Re
Kassel Jaeger (François J. Bonnet), the French composer who also heads INA-GRM, returns with Sub Re — Latin for 'beneath matter.' He gathers field recordings, electronic textures, and fragments of acoustic instruments, then strips them from their original context and remakes them into something cold and strange, surfacing the tidal energy hidden beneath the source. Includes work first performed at the 2022 Venice Biennale. Released on Shelter Press.
Haruomi Hosono's 23rd solo album arrives September 11 via Ghostly International. Across 57 years of recording — rock, techno, ambient, experimental — Hosono now offers a record like a prayer: still, quiet, present. It began with a question: how do you say omoiyari, jihi, or boseiai in English? His answer is the word that closes letters — Sincerely — and he sketches the harmony that emerges from a lonely, disordered age. Cover art by painter Haruna Horigome.
